Description:
The Stamp Act put a tax on almost all printed goods, justified as paying off the money to keep soldiers stationed around the Appalachians and protect the colonies. This act bothered many colonists as it was used only to raise revenue from the colonies, rather than regulate commerce (like all other taxes). Many Boston residents protested, forming the Sons of Liberty. After only a year, this act was repealed
