Description:
The Proclamation of 1763 was a royal proclamation, which made the lands out west of the Appalachian Mountains off limits to settlers. Licensed merchants such as fur traders were still allowed to own land and trade there however. Many colonists would ignore the proclamation and head westward anyway.
