World War 1 started after Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a Serbian nationalist. Countries had many allies and they wanted to help a country that was tiny. So when Austria sent an Ultimatum to Serbia the allies of those countries backed them up. World War 1 used chemical gases with trench warfare which was very deadly.Added to timeline:
