sep 19, 1777 - BATTLE OF SARATOGA
September 19, 1777
Description:
The Battle of Saratoga took place at Stillwater, New York. This battle revived the spirit of the Americans at a crucial point, where motivations and morale were low. Prior to the Battle of Saratoga, Philadelphia had been seized by the British and they had a suffered a loss at the Battle of Brandywine. With this renewed spirit the colonists continued in their great war against the British. However, if they colonists had not won this war, they may have given up on the American Revolution, as they might’ve lost hope in the cause. One of the major results of this Battle was that the Americans gained the support of the French as a powerful, especially useful in battle of Yorktown with the help of the French navy. This was another turning point against the British as it was a win in a time of need.
