may 10, 1775 - SECOND CONTINENTAL CONGRESS May 10, 1775

Description:

The Second Continental Congress met in the state house of Philadelphia with delegates from every state except Georgia. This congress was significant because of their Olive Branch Petition (the colonies made a final offer of peace to Britain, agreeing to be loyal to the British government if it addressed their grievances). The Congress resulted in by the British later denying the petition and the British passing the American Prohibitory Act - forbidding all further trade with the colonies. This event affected the war by changing the American's purpose for fighting. The Congress changed the thought that they aren't fighting only for independence, but they are fighting for their grievances.
