oct 7, 1763 - Proclamation of 1763
October 7th 1763
Description:
After Great Britain acquired French Territory once the 7 Years War had ended, Britain wanted to conciliate the Indians by checking the encroachment of the settlers.
The British rationale for this was to not hinder the colonists but to work out the Indian problem early and prevent future bloody eruptions.
However, the colonial reaction to this was not good as they failed to follow the proclamation and fostered resentment. They did so because they believed that the land was birth right and they had "bought" it with blood and sacrifices.
