AND CONCORD
April 19, 1775
Description:
General Thomas Gage, a British official was planning to seize the colonists' illegal weapons but got attacked by a surprise attack from the colonists instead. The first shot, named "the shot heard round the world", was the start of 2 nations (Britain and America) going to war with each other. The British won the battle of Lexington while the colonists won the battle of Concord. A famous piece of work written by Thomas Paine called "Common Sense" was part of this ongoing battle between the British and Colonial America. In Paine's work, he mentions how America should change their outlook on the war and that the English Consitution was the problem for all this chaos.
