mar 22, 1765 - STAMP ACT
March 22, 1765
Description:
The British imposed a tax on most printed documents (such as newspaper, almanacs, pamphlets, deeds, will, and licenses) in the colonies. Again, their motives are to gain money out of the colonists. The colonists responded by petitions, violence, and boycott. They tar&feathered tax collectors, never paid to the colonial government, and created the Sons of Liberty (advance the rights of European colonists and fight taxes enforced by the British) and Virginia "Trumpet" of young aristocrats. The colonists felt that the British enforced this act as a direct attempt to raise revenue in the colonies without consent.
