jun 26, 1767 - Townshend Acts

Description:

The British now placed NEW taxes and took away some freedoms from the colonists like- New taxes on imports of paper, paint, lead, glass, and tea. It also gave British officials the right to search colonists houses and businesses. Then they started to prosecute smugglers (without using a local jury) meaning they could take the goods as forfeit and punish the smuggler however theyd like.
