On December 2001, after two rounds, Beijing was revealed to win the 2008 summer Olympics bid. This was a moment of pride and joy for all of China's citizens as maintaining human rights was an issue in China previously. Citizens all over China were also proud China had finally gotten the recognition it deserved. This was also a huge advancement for China with it's growing economy and social status as it has not previously been selected for hosting the Olympics.Added to timeline:
