Earlier this year, Jessica shared her story about being being the first transgender female playing in the CWHL. This event is significant as it brings awareness to the LGBTQ community, as well as athletes in amongst the community as they shouldn't be afraid to tell the world who they are. This has also been a reoccurring trend in the past couple years, as more athletes has shared their stories like Jessica did. The impact of this event not only touched the LGBTQ community, but also the rest of the world. It has shown others and especially the youth, that you can still participate/play the sport you love and still show the world who you truly are.
