The Hellenizing Jews go after the Orthodox Jews because they banished them from the synagogue. They use Antiochus IV to help them and defile the synagogue, sacrificing a pig on the alter. The Orthodox Jews win with Mattathias and Judas Maccabees (Maccabean revolt) and pray to God to help them clean the synagogue and he gives them 8 days worth of oil.
