jul 14, 1789 - Storming of Bastille

Description:

On July 14, 1789 the revolutionaries stormed the Bastille to free prisoners and take the weapons it contained. They first approached the prison demanded that Governor de Launay surrendered the prison and hand over the gunpowder. As he refused the crowd started t get aggravated and it ended in a violent attack. This was one of the most defining moments of the Revolution as Bastille had become a symbol of the monarchy's dictatorial rule.
