jun 17, 1775 - Battle of Bunker Hill

Description:

This battle was fought in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The colonists learned that the British were planning to fortify the unoccupied hills to gain control of the Boston Harbor, and went to defend Bunker Hill and Breed’s Hill. The fight was a victory for the British, but it was very important because it was indicative to the British that the colonists were not going to be easy to defeat. The British lost many more casualties than the colonists, and incited apprehension in the British for the rest of the war.
