may 10, 1775 - Second Continental Congress

Description:

The Second Continental Congress was an assembly of colonial representatives that convened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was significant because it was the governing body that would be in charge of the war against Britain. The congress authorized the formation of a continental army, and appointed George Washington the leader. The congress also declared printing money to be allowed, key in paying for supplies. As the cry for independence grew louder and louder, the point of no return soon came: The Declaration of Independence.
