Minutes after game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup ended, Vancouver Canucks fans took to the streets and started a riot. They crashed and burned cars, smashed windows, looted stores and hurt/injured several people. It is significant to this category because it was something that didn't happen overly often in the sporting world and it also caused a lot of havoc for the city of Vancouver. It cost the city alone over $3.7 million dollars in repairs from the aftermath of the rioters. It belongs on the timeline with the other events in its category because it was brought to the attention of many people throughout North America, as well as causing a huge conflict in the hockey world.
