jul 24, 1846 - Brigham Young arrives in the Salt Lake Valley
Description:
Brigham Young was sick with "Mountain sickness" when the scouting party informed him of a valley coming up. The next morning, when entering the Salt Lake Valley he stated "This is the Place" and stopped the Mormon trek to California determining that Zion was the Salt Lake Valley. They wanted a place that was isolated, had not been settled yet, and had enough water and farm-able land to survive independent of other people.
