jun 15, 1215 - Magna Carta

Description:

Written by John, the King of England, the Magna Carta translates to “The Great Character.” Being the first written constitution in European history, it was one of the earliest ancestors of the US Constitution. The Magna Carta is one of the most important documents. This document is what established that everyone is subject to the law. It guaranteed the right to individuals, and their right to fair trial. Even the king is subject to these laws. The Magna Carta was the first real document that had this expression clear in writing.

The amendments that we live by today were influenced by the Virginia Declaration of Rights, which contained things taken from the Bill of Rights, and the magna Carta. It guaranteed the right for men to a trial by jury. This rule that was granted to us we still live by today. It sparked rules and regulations that gave people rights.
