Affecting all aspects of life, the Enlightenment was one of the things that influenced Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence relates back to Enlightenment ideas. A lot of what is written comes from John Locke’s ideas about government. It was an influence on American Colonies to become a nation.
