aug 9, 1970 - Steadicam
Description:
This is a rig for the camera used for handheld shooting. It usually sits on the cameraman's back, shoulders or chest. It gives smooth motion, allows the camera to go anywhere. It was invented by Garrett Brown and was able to do 30 shots that Hollywood said were impossible. This was a very significant invention because it evolved the use of handheld filming and gave a smoother approach to filming, therefore improving certain scenes like action movies. It was important, because it proved that anything was possible when it came to filming and we wouldn't have as a good a quality of camerawork today without it.
