Well, Britain decided to fight, so there was this battle at New York called the Battle of Long Island, also called the Battle of Brooklyn or the Battle of Brooklyn Heights. George Washington was in command of the American army, but he miscalculated, and we lost badly. It was significant, because it was one of the first major battles fought by, now officially called, America.Added to timeline:
