jun 1, 1895 - Cinematograph
Description:
Lighter and quieter, invented and patented by the Lumière Brothers in France. It improved on the Kinetoscope design.
The Cinematograph projected the image onto a screen so an audience could watch it, rather than just one person. Additionally, it produced sharper images onscreen.
This is significant, not only because it was a better experience for the consumer, but the invention of a projector to show moving images paves the way for cinemas to exist.
