mar 10, 1927 - Cinematograph Act

Description:

This meant that 7.5% - 20% of films had to British. These films had to be made by British companies, involve a British cast and be based on British subjects. However the act was not a success as, American companies forced quota quickies, which were supposedly "British" films at low cost and poor quality. These were terrible quality and lacked good narratives. This was a significant event as it encouraged British companies to make more films at a better quality afterward even though the act was a failure.
