sinks RMS Lusitania
Description:
The Germans sunk the RMS Luistania because it was carrying military supplies. In doing so, they killed 1,198 of the 1,959 passengers, and created international outcry against Germany. There were 139 US citizens aboard, 128 of them died, infuriating the Americans.
This event played a role in America's later entry into the war.
