Description:

- the result of two years of international conferences
Divided into 3 'baskets':
1: European security and principles for inter-state relationships
2: Cooperation in economics, science, technology and environment
3: "Cooperation in humanitarian and other fields" (i.e. human rights)
- signed by 33 European states, the US and Canada
- the USSR was criticised for failing to meet Basket 3, which contributed to the collapse of detente
