Fionna Goode kills Anna Leigh Leyton to become the next Supreme. The Witches believe this to be the work of Marie Laveau, New Orleans Voodoo Queen, beginning the feud between Voodoo and Witchcraft.
However, the housekeeper, Spalding, witnessed this act. He cuts out his own bewitched tongue in order to keep himself from revealing the truth about Fionna. Myrtle Snow was the witch responsible for bewitching his tongue to be incapable of telling a lie. After cutting it off, Myrtle bewitched the tongue again, keeping it from drying up and rotting.
