jan 1, 1440 - Invention of the Printing Press
Description:
Johannes Gutenberg invented movable type and designed the first printing press. This allowed for a drastically faster way to produce copies of books and other literary works. Just within the first 50 years after Gutenberg's invention of the press, 8-20 million copies of the Bible had been printed using this new method, more than all of the books which had been produced in Europe to date combined.
