Description:

The pascaline, also called the arithmetic machine, was the first calculating machine of its time to ever be produced and used during the early seventeenth century. Created by Blaise Pascal in 1642 but not fit for purchase until 1644, this man made invention could add and subtract just by the manipulation of each numbers dials. Pascal´s original intention for his ¨calculating machine¨ was for his father's use (a tax collector), but once he understood the machine's full potential in sales, he went on to sell fifty of these machines over the next ten years.
