apr 5, 1764 - Sugar Act

Description:

Passed by Parliament, the Sugar Act reduced the tax on molasses from six to three pence. The enforced tax on molasses caused a decline in rum distilleries in the colonies, which led to disruption in their trades for lumber, flour, cheese, and other farming products. These disruptions affected the colonies economy greatly, sitting them up for future revolts.
