Description:
In 1497, John Cabot sailed with a crew of 18 men to find a new trading route for King Henry VII in England. He believed that he had found the Northeast coast of Asia. He named various features of the area, which are now known as the Cabot Strait. Cabot returned to England shortly after this voyage to inform King Henry VII of his findings.
