oct 20, 1891 - James Chadwick
Description:
James Chadwick was the final scientist who made an important change to the way we see the atom today. He was born on October 20, 1891, and was a British physicist who made the important discovery of the neutron, solving many questions of previous atomic models. He found this by bombarding atoms of Beryllium with alpha particles which released an unknown radiation. He proposed that this radiation was made of a particle with a similar mass to a proton but with a neutral charge, causing it to be named the neutron.
