jan 1, 1676 - Bacon's Rebellion
Description:
Nathanial Bacon protest the decisions of the governor, Sir William Berkeley, to give land to his cronies and to not allow people to take more land from the Natives. Bacon conducts a series of raids and massacres against American Indian villages on the Virginia frontier. Bacon's army eventually defeated the governor's forces and burned Jamestown. Berkeley suppresses the rebellion, which contributes to the rise of slavery as opposed to indentured servitude.
