John Brown led a small army of 18 men into HARPER'S FERRY, Virginia. He would seize the arms and ammunition in the federal arsenal, His plan being to instigate a slave rebellion in the South, he wanted to He had no rations. He had no escape route. His plan was doomed from the very beginning, and was unsuccessful the only succeessful thing it did was deepening the divide between the North and South.Added to timeline:
