Description:

He defeated the imperial army in Kyoto. The Hojo regents in Kamakura gained complete control over Japan. The emperor and the remaining government offices in Kyoto lost practically all effective power.

New Buddhist sects were introduced: the Zen sect found large numbers of followers among the samurai, and the radical and intolerant Lotus Sutra sect.
