Description:
Another Independence Activist, The battle of Cheongsanri / Qingshanli( 1920 )
Kim Jwa Jin and Hong Beom Do was also one of the famous independence activist which acted during the 1920s. They were both a great fighter and a great leader. An jung geun, another famous independence activist mainly worked by himself a lot but Kim Jwa Jin and Hong Beom Do lead an army/troop to fight against the Japanese troops. Now talking specifically about the battle of Cheongsanri, it was fought in October 1920 between the Japanese troop and the Korean independence army. This battle is called the ‘battle of Cheongsanri’ because it happened in China, Cheongsanri. By the death of Emperor Gojong in 1919 March 1st many people started following Kim Jwa jin and formed an army. They weren’t safe in Korea so they fled to China. They began to grow their troops in China, so the Japanese government sent Japanese army to Cheongsanri (where they stayed) to kill them all. Once general Kim Jwa Jin knew that the Japanese army was coming to attacked them, they hid themselves in a rocky mountain. When the Japanese army was going through the mountain, the Korean soldiers who were abusing themselves in the mountain attacked them. The battle ended up as Korea’s victory. This battle didn’t change the relationship of Korea and Japan but it showed us that we still had a chance to fight and win against the Japanese.
