feb 6, 2018 - SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy test flight

Description:

SpaceX launched their reusable rocket, the Falcon Heavy, for its first test flight on February 6th, 2018. The Falcon Heavy reused many of the parts of the Falcon 9, another reusable rocket developed by SpaceX. It carried SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s personal Tesla Roadster within it as a payload. The rocket successfully put the car in orbit around the Sun after achieving enough velocity to break out of Earth’s gravitational field. After the successful placement of the car in the gravitational field of the Sun, the rocket was guided back down to Earth and landed upright on the launch pad, an extraordinary breakthrough in the use of rockets. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has stated that almost all of the parts of the Falcon can be reused over 100 times.
