mar 28, 2016 - Virtual reality available to the general consumer
Description:
Virtual reality (VR) is the interaction with a computer-generated world that features visual, auditory and sensory feedback to the user. Although virtual reality has existed prior to the release of both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, these virtual reality headsets allowed the technology to become available to the general consumer. Prior to the release of these devices, virtual reality technology had mainly been used for military, medical and aviation training; however, the release of these headsets allowed for the general public to experience a virtual reality world in their own homes. With the use of a 360 degree camera, motion sensors and gyroscopes, the headset can sense movement of the users body and immerse them in a simulated world.
