Description:

Most scholars think that all three manuscripts of the Temple Scroll are copies of an original work composed in the second half of the second century BCE (after 120 BCE, perhaps during the rule of John Hyrcanus I).

Schiffman (2010:85 and passim; see also other bibliography) dates the sources of the TS in the pre-Maccabean period. He sees TS and MMT and the D documents in a chronological (and somewhat genetically linear) continuity.
