Ben Sira writing after the death of Simon II, but before the reform of Antiochus IV, in Jerusalem, and with a strong connection to the Jerusalem priesthood. His grandson translates his wisdom project into Greek around the end of the second century BCE. Fragmetns of the Hebrew original of he book have been discovered at Qumran and Masada, and large parts of Hebrew manuscripts of Ben Sira were found among the medieval contents of the Cairo Genizah.
