jan 16, 1970 - The Majority of Programming Languages Used Today Had Been Developed; New Generation Commenced

Description:

Referred as Third Generation Languages, such as C, C++, C#, Java, BASIC and Pascal were developed.

1. Computer software became much more powerful and flexible and for the first time more than one program could share the computer's resources at the same time (multi-tasking).

2. 3GLs are much more machine independent and more programmer-friendly. This includes features like improved support for aggregate data types, and expressing concepts in a way that favors the programmer, not the computer.

3.A third generation language improves over a second generation language by having the computer take care of non-essential details.
