Google announced that they would be developing technology for autonomous vehicles. In May 2012, a driverless Toyota Prius received the first license issued to a driverless vehicle in the United States. In 2014, Google introduced Firefly, a car which was fully autonomous, manufactured without a steering wheel, brakes or gas pedal. Firefly was tested in the streets of San Francisco in 2015. In 2016, the project was made into its own subsidiary named Waymo. Waymo vehicles use sensors and radars to track objects, even those in motion, in a 360 degree view. The cars have been involved in mainly minor accidents, the majority of which Google claims are the fault of other drivers.
