jan 1, 1622 - Slide Rule
Description:
Also known as the slipstick, the slide rule was created by William Oughtred which combined two Gunter rules together to create a device that could calculate on a logarithmic scale. This device could not add or subtract, however.
The slide rule has influenced how we solve mathematical problems. For centuries, the slide rule was the main method of mathematical calculation, until the calculator, which came centuries after. Astronauts and rocket scientists have also depended on the slide rule.
