The first pocket calculator was invented by a team of Texas Instruments employees, and got it patented in 1974.

This was a new chapter in how we learn arithmetic, and introduced new applications for engineering and technology. The pocket calculator supplanted the analytical machine and the slide rule as the most modern method of calculating. This was also important because of its compact size.
