Before going commercial, Joseph Engelberger created the 'Unimate #001' which was a prototype for a robotic arm that would be used in General Motors factories.

I chose this because robots have made a noticeable impact on the work force, since many people's jobs have been replaced by these machines. Robots have come a long way since the Unimate, completing all kinds of tasks to make our lifestyles easier. Robots are also a vital part of the space industry since humans don't have as much of an ability as robots do to last in the harsh, airless environment of outer space.
