Age: 33

On June 7th, Richard Henry Lee, a statesman from Virginia, proposes a declaration for independence and the Second Continental Congress concurred.

On June 11th, Congress appoints a "Committee of Five", which consists of John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, T.J. of Virginia, Robert R. Livingston of New York, and Roger Sherman of Connecticut, to draft a formal declaration. With much consideration and deliberation with the committee, it takes T.J. seventeen days to write up a draft, and on June 28th it is presented before Congress. This first draft includes the grievance that King George III prohibits laws that could abolish or reduce slavery in the colonies.
