oct 7, 1476 - First printing press in UK

Description:

William Caxton was the first to use the Printing Press and published a book "Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales". The reason why Caxton was able to first use the printing press was that during his visit to Cologne he saw the evolving german printing industry. He then quickly set up a printing press in Bruges which then is book was process. After his death Caxton was given credit to his work which standardised the English Language, which meant that English was more widely known without the different dialects. This was also thought to have expanded the vocabulary of the english language.
