In 1453 the German Goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg invented a new press. Following his namesake, the gutenberg press worked similarly to the movable blocks however it was mechanically worked, making it the first mass production printing machine. Due to its ease of use in the time period, its regarded as one of the most important inventions of the Second Millenium.
