This bronze relief statue is 60 x 60 cm and depicts the beheading of John the Baptist. Not only is this sculpture beautiful but it tells a story, an assassin was hired by King Herod to get the head for Salome. This piece is known for Donatello's use of perspective. This sculpture is one of the 6 panels at the Siena Cathedral, each made by a different artist of the time.
