Description:

Standing at 158 cm. tall and made of bronze, this version of David is credited to be the first free standing nude statue since the time of the ancient Greeks. It is thought to have been commissioned for the Medici family for the middle of their courtyard. When the Medici family was exiled from Florence in 1494, the statue was moved to the Palazzo Della Signoria, where the marble David statue was.
