Description:
Set forth by Pope Alexander VI. This treaty "split" the globe in half down the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The Spanish were given the new world (north and south America, excluding Brazil) and the Portuguese were given Africa and India. The treaty also stated the discoverers were able to do whatever they pleased with the land they found.
